BGI extends its reach in children's publishing
The Bright Group International (BGI) is extending its move into licensed publishing with a new deal for London Zoo.
It expects to sign further major brands in the next two months, said BGI md Vicki Willden-Lebrecht.
She said, “We have found a distinct niche in this market, developing creative content into books for brands like London Zoo. The brands we work with are rich in content that can work well in children’s publishing.”

Charity Auction raises over 5k for KidsCo!
Bright’s Charity Artwork Auction, held on Thursday 27th May, was a sparkling affair full of verve and energy (plus plenty of wine!) that managed to raise 5k for KidsCo! It was a fun-filled night with a speech from Camila Batmanghelidjh herself (KidsCo founder), a KidsCo graduate and even a raffle! Thanks go to all involved and all those generous peeps that attended, including artists, publishers and volunteers and of course all Bright’s wonderful artists that donated. Special thanks also go to Oliver Jeffers, Emma Thomson and Anthony Browne. It was a great night and one we hope to replicate (but bigger and BRIGHTER!) next year!

Vicki Willden-LeBRAVE bob-sleighs to raise money for the Light Fund!
Organised by Bear Conran’s Stephen Gould, The Light Fund Bobsleigh Challenge takes place from March 2nd to 4th at the Ingles track, just outside of Innsbruck . . . and Bright’s brave MD is taking part!
The Light Fund raised over £70,000 last year for a number of charities including Kidscape, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Douglas Bader Foundation, Nordoff Robbins, Multiple Sclerosis, The Lymphoma Association and The Institute for Cancer Research. The bobsleigh event will play a large part in this year’s fundraising efforts. They do a fantastic job and even donated £5,000 to Bright last December for our charity Kids Company.
There 18 bends to navigate over a length of 1,200 metres, with a vertical drop from start to finish of 98.1 metres. They will hit speeds in excess of 80mph on some bends and will experience five times the force of gravity – and flipping over or falling out is not a healthy option!
Good luck Vicks! We’re all behind you . . . though thankfully not in the bobsleigh with you!

BRAND LICENSING BRIGADE
We came . . . We exhibited . . . We conquered!
The Bright Group International (BGI) recently made its debut at The Brand Licensing show 2009 at Olympia . . . and went down a storm! All the team were there to promote four captivating new characters pitch-perfect for licensing; including Sue Hendra’s ‘Barry The Fish With Fingers’, Lee Wildish’s ‘Cowboy Carl’ and ‘Swamp Life’ and Gary De La Cour’s ‘Boglysaurus’. We received rapturous feedback and were stunned by the amount of attention our outstanding new projects generated – which just goes to show we’ve definitely made the right move heading into the licensing arena.
Full steam ahead . . . next stop Cannes for MIP!
